Bánh mì makes it downtown

I've been working on that. Food Shop crew has twice told me that's the source of their bread, but I haven't yet reached an owner or manager to explain any potential new location for business model. Food Shop is new enough that I doubt they would still be referencing a defunct business.

Preemptory strike on eucalypti

Hopefully the same attention is paid to Grape Street dog park, where numerous very large limbs have dropped during the past three years, including during the middle of the day, when the park was experiencing heavy use. Amazing no dogs or people were hurt that time. The most recent destroyed a piece of fence right beside the park entrance. There're a dozen or so Eucalypti at that park, some positioned over picnic tables.

Wow, sounds like somebody graduated from the Kanye West school of self-promotion: claiming to be a victim while attacking people, overly concerned with fame as a metric of artistic merit, appointing herself on some other "level" where her opinions on what constitutes quality count more than those of other vested parties. This is not Monet and the Impressionists staging a stylistic revolution against the Académie. Based on what I've read, it's a business owner lashing out over not receiving free publicity (and... [sigh] getting free publicity for it). IMO, any legit artists would immediately disassociate themselves from the sort of rhetoric that populates Zogo's social media presence (see screencap). All creatives know going in that pursuing their dreams is going to be a financial and psychological struggle. No genuine artist wants to succeed because somebody stomped their feet, waved their arms and cried for attention.

Encinitas styrofoam ban unwelcomed

More than anything I'm amazed these guys think styrofoam is worth fighting to keep. Mr. Amster, I guarantee your customers will not complain when you stop using styrofoam, which has zero magical powers to keep pizza bagels fresh or dry. In the meantime, you've already lost customers who refuse to eat at places that use it. Is protecting your "right" to use polystyrene really worth risking your business's reputation?

Is it worth the wait at Panama 66?

The separate beer and food lines are a pet peeve of mine as well. Common practice at Blind Lady is to wait in line for a beer, then wait in line for pizza drinking said beer, then waiting in line for more beer while waiting for pizza.

San Diegans cause Southwest Airlines plane diversion

If they're charging racism, then they've decided to make it about race, and hope they can make peace with that within their community if it turns out they're FOS. Obv I wasn't there enough to know, I just chafe at seeing people blame asinine behavior on a culture or ethnicity. I've known a-holes of every stripe, and many of them have been 19-23 yrs old.

San Diegans cause Southwest Airlines plane diversion

Not sure why ethnicity or citizenship supposedly has bearing on this story. These guys were clearly behaving like *bros*, an unfortunate byproduct of San Diegan American culture. Hit PB on a Saturday night and you'll find hundreds of bros operating with the same rowdy pack mentality. The only shame is there's no do not fly list for bros.
