Halibut are turning on
Sorry, didn't see your post until now. basically, shore fishing is in the surf or in the bays with either bait or lures. The reports are few and scattered, although their are some social media pages that will give you an Idea. In the surf, surf perch, croaker, corbina and smaller halibut are usually targeted species. Summertime is the best and sand crabs Carolina rigged is a favorite bait for these fish. Also, crocodiles, or that type spoon will catch small halibut in the surf. In the bays, expect spotted bay bass, an occasional halibut, rays, sand bass and orange-mouth corvina. Occasionally, bonito and juvenile white seabass. Kayak fishing, which is what I do, expect the same catch as the 1/2 day boats as they are usually fishing the same areas. Better catches, considering stealth, on white seabass and yellowtail sometimes. Kayaks can be very expensive now...I still fish the same 500 dollar Scupper Pro TW I've had for close to 20 years. Now, you can spend thousands. You don't have to be a millionaire to fish the sportboat fleet, and it's a good place to start learning the fishery. I would suggest anyone wanting to kayak fish that isn't already an adept angler to learn the fishery and get some paddling practice in..it can be dangerous dealing with big toothy critters in a kayak. A guided trip is always best to shorten the learning curve. As far as weekly reports, there isn't enough content out there unless you want to spend hours searching blogs and Facebook. If you are really interested, there are many FB pages with some content on pier, shore and jetty fishing, such as;

How kayaks have changed
All Friday and Saturday night Summer Pops concerts have a fireworks display scheduled at the end. Thursday concerts do not. Sunday concerts will not feature a display, with the exception of the July 5 Star Spangled Pops and the September 6 Tchaikovsky Spectacular presentations.

Mission Bay?
Eww
"False Bay" before dredging from the southwest. The dredging was completed in 1956.

Mission Bay?
Eww
The old bridge over the inlet between Ocean Beach and Mission Beach. People would fish from the bridge, especially in spawning season for white seabass and halibut, among other species. Some would use long trident-type spears and have success on the larger fish. My grandfather and father used a shorter version of the trident in a john boat at night to hunt halibut. They attached car head lights to the rail of the boat pointing down so as to see the halibut laying on the bottom in the shallow water. They were stuck on the east side of the lagoon once in the truck trying to get in to their launch point. It took 2 days for them to get help out. Not that folks were unhelpful, just not many friends around with a vehicle that could during the work week.

Clammin' for nothin'
True that, though where I live, it's not uncommon at all. We are not talking big operation here, unless you count all the locals without permits doing it at every extra-low tide. Still, you are correct, this is a recent change. My bad for not checking current shellfish regulations and joining the multitudes on the beach at low tide. So, though I do not advise breaking the regs anywhere, they will happily provide you with a pitchfork and bucket in most places near the beach and wish you luck. It is always up to the individual participating to know the rules. Thank you for the comment.

"Be aware that the capture of clams, scallops, lobster, and other shellfish and mollusks are technically not allowed under a fishing license (many tourists go clamming for fun, but be aware that this could technically get you if the authorities caught you)."

Chargers reach deal with city; fans rejoice
SD on the QT is a spoof page, "almost factual" didn't get you there? it's simply humor, and yes, if you are humorless, don't read it. But the Reader is about the only unbiased source of info left out there. That's what alternative means, alternative to the Mainstream Media, which is now all biased to the Left or Right. It is hilarious...I've even seen people quoting the Onion as factual news. People, read. Read. Don't just look at the headline and the purty pics...READ! WTH has happened to education in the US?

Plugs, bombs, feathers, and bait
Check these links, Ken. Basically, unless flooding, it's a series of ponds, some accessible, some not. The upper portion is mostly dry or reservoirs. I know of a few folks that fish it fairly regularly, though I haven't in a long time...then it was in lakeside through a hole in the fence. We used to get catfish in the creek jso and parallel to 8 along Avarado after rains back then and real big bullfrogs, too.

Halibut are turning on
Sorry, didn't see your post until now. basically, shore fishing is in the surf or in the bays with either bait or lures. The reports are few and scattered, although their are some social media pages that will give you an Idea. In the surf, surf perch, croaker, corbina and smaller halibut are usually targeted species. Summertime is the best and sand crabs Carolina rigged is a favorite bait for these fish. Also, crocodiles, or that type spoon will catch small halibut in the surf. In the bays, expect spotted bay bass, an occasional halibut, rays, sand bass and orange-mouth corvina. Occasionally, bonito and juvenile white seabass. Kayak fishing, which is what I do, expect the same catch as the 1/2 day boats as they are usually fishing the same areas. Better catches, considering stealth, on white seabass and yellowtail sometimes. Kayaks can be very expensive now...I still fish the same 500 dollar Scupper Pro TW I've had for close to 20 years. Now, you can spend thousands. You don't have to be a millionaire to fish the sportboat fleet, and it's a good place to start learning the fishery. I would suggest anyone wanting to kayak fish that isn't already an adept angler to learn the fishery and get some paddling practice in..it can be dangerous dealing with big toothy critters in a kayak. A guided trip is always best to shorten the learning curve. As far as weekly reports, there isn't enough content out there unless you want to spend hours searching blogs and Facebook. If you are really interested, there are many FB pages with some content on pier, shore and jetty fishing, such as; https://www.facebook.com/groups/210655289014256/?… Good luck and tight lines!— July 31, 2015 8:44 a.m.
How kayaks have changed
All Friday and Saturday night Summer Pops concerts have a fireworks display scheduled at the end. Thursday concerts do not. Sunday concerts will not feature a display, with the exception of the July 5 Star Spangled Pops and the September 6 Tchaikovsky Spectacular presentations.— July 28, 2015 7:16 a.m.
Mission Bay? Eww
"False Bay" before dredging from the southwest. The dredging was completed in 1956. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2015/m…— May 9, 2015 6:46 a.m.
Not that folks were unhelpful, just not many friends around with a vehicle that could during the work week. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2015/m…— May 9, 2015 6:45 a.m.

Thank you for the comment. http://baja.com/blog/san-quintin-best-place-for-c… http://www.mexadventure.com/baja_travel/Fishing_L… "Be aware that the capture of clams, scallops, lobster, and other shellfish and mollusks are technically not allowed under a fishing license (many tourists go clamming for fun, but be aware that this could technically get you if the authorities caught you)."— April 25, 2015 7:55 a.m.
We used to get catfish in the creek jso and parallel to 8 along Avarado after rains back then and real big bullfrogs, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO9edcr-fLk http://sdfish.com/forums/threads/san-diego-river.…— January 16, 2015 6:41 a.m.
