Born in San Diego in 1962, Daniel Powell now resides in San Quintin, Mexico. He has been a lifelong outdoor and fishing enthusiast while working at various trades on projects throughout the southwest from 1977-1997. From 1999-2004, Mr. Powell was a self-employed consultant and Certified Building Inspector. In 2005, he moved to the La Paz area in Baja Sur to start a ocean kayak fishing operation but returned to San Diego to recover after a spinal injury while researching locales on Isla Cerralvo in the Sea of Cortez.
As an artist, and inspired at an early age by his well-published grandmother, Mr. Powell enjoys reading, writing, playing guitar and singing as his "indoor" pastimes.
June, 2014: Published a collection of his grandmother's poetry titled "Friendship Comes Crashing In- The Poetry of Bonnie May Malody".
July, 2014: Helped create and began working as a contributing editor and staff writer for the Waterfront section at the San Diego Reader.
