Today's The Day...Turn The Page.

"Here I Am...Turn The Page." --Bob Seger, from "Turn The Page" (covered by Metallica on "Garage Days Revisited")

Just woke up about an hour ago. Popped open a Diet Pepsi, flipped on my Cricket Broadband, and made my way through the e-mails from overnight. Pretty normal stuff, huh?

Execpt today, I turn the page and begin a new year. That is right...I turn 46 today. Heck, if I can make it to 52, I'll be playing with a full deck (54 with both jokers). Lousy attempt at humor...but hey, I've only been awake for a little over two hours.

So, what are my plans for tonight? Or today, for that matter? Will I engage in drunken debauchery? Quiet introspection? Trolling for rented companionship on South Coast Highway in Oceanside (formerly South Hill Street)?

Holle NEIN on any of that! ("Hell NO" in German, btw).

The best thing I can do is just get out of the apartment for the afternoon, take my digicam with me, and enjoy a nice day of photo-taking. Just be ego-freego, and let the day flow easier than the Willamette River after it was cleaned up.

I might stop in a place for a cool one--then again, perhaps not. At least Nature gave me a great birthday gift...a cool Fall day, which is great for my skin and nerves! Today is starting out and showing promise.

Some count a day like this a success by the amounts of gifts and well-wishing they recieve. Other folks...well...let's just say that a happy birthday should end with pounding some sap into toothpaste at the drop of a hat.

For me, I feel that my birthday was a success by living to see the next day--while having some fun in the meantime. today is not a good day to visit the Vista Detention Center, Palomar Medical Center's Trauma Center (or Emergency Room, for that matter), or the afterlife.

For today is not a good day to die...but to live. I was granted another year of life...and I'm making the most of it!

Soooo--time out for fun!
