My soul belongs in Ancient Egypt,
Deep in some forgotten tomb,
Embalmed by decades of grief and sorrow,
Wrapped in centuries of moldering silence,
Desiccated by aridity
And dry as the dust of a thousand dead relationships,
Each fleeting as the desert rain,
And perhaps as meaningless...
Mere shades of failed romance
Buried in the Sands of Time.
My soul belongs in Ancient Egypt...
As it already lies in ruins.
When Death comes, let my spirit
Rise above this continent,
Drift slowly over land and sea,
Come to rest far up the Nile
And sink beneath the sands,
To feel one last cool embrace
In the very depths of that
Ancient civilization.
My soul belongs in Ancient Egypt,
Deep in some forgotten tomb,
Embalmed by decades of grief and sorrow,
Wrapped in centuries of moldering silence,
Desiccated by aridity
And dry as the dust of a thousand dead relationships,
Each fleeting as the desert rain,
And perhaps as meaningless...
Mere shades of failed romance
Buried in the Sands of Time.
My soul belongs in Ancient Egypt...

When Death comes, let my spirit
Rise above this continent,
Drift slowly over land and sea,
Come to rest far up the Nile
And sink beneath the sands,
To feel one last cool embrace
In the very depths of that
Ancient civilization.
