reflections Day 1

I sit at home. Day 8 after my return from Marrakech. I feel like I am in a movie.

Where are my travel companions, my new friends?

Sunday 22.4.12

We arrive in Tata, almost 12 hours since I left the riad in Marrakech this morning. Other than a few stops to eat or stretch our legs, we have been in the mini bus, staring out the window, getting to know the others who are accompanying us on this adventure.

We turn into the parking lot of the Hotel du Relais and drag ourselves into the lobby with our luggage. We each fill out a card with our name and passport and reason for being in this place. I am handed my key and head outside by the pool and dining room along a windy path to room 31. The key is attached to a wood handle like an old style screw driver. I open the door- two beds, under two shelves, a shower room, a toilet room, with a sink in the middle. I wash my face, removing a layer of our journey before I join the group for dinner. I make my way back to the dining room and sit down for a soup, tagine, bread, water and tea meal. we have Wi fi around the pool area. I should have brought my bathing suit. Lisz says a tee shirt is ok, but I think that would be a little risqué in this place.

I go to my room and collapse. it is very hot and I am nervous about opening the windows facing the courtyard. I am too tired to take a shower. I have one outlet in the room, just under the light switch near the front door. To charge my phone, net book, camera, video cam, I must either stay in the room, or close the entry door partially and maneuver the adaptor into the plug from outside. I think this is funny.

I set my iPhone alarm and try to sleep but I am restless and hot and even my sleeping tablet doesn't work so I just try to be calm.
