I worked in the garden last weekend. went to the orange big box store and the nursery with the decadent dessert shop.
Unloading the car- 4 cubic yards of potting soil, one flat of drought resistant succulent ground cover, 2 gallons of paint plus primer for my fence, this 5 or 6 pronged garden thing to break up soil, some mint to make tea when it multiplies, some basil- lots of basil different types, a package of light bulbs- the curly kind., 2 mini cherry pies, 1 mini apple crumb pie, 4 ginger molasses cookies, and some snapdragons!
I started near the gate and worked my way east and west- not all the way in, but enough to tailor it up for casual viewing- up to the mid gate, a little past. bougainvillea shedding magenta eyelids on the river rocks. Bits of columbine, succulents, feijoada, passion fruit vine untrimmed.
Snails winging their way over the fence to crash and burn on the sidewalk, barely missing that mom with the infant and the tweaking husband up the street.
for four days, four days I've found mosquito bites all over my arms and hands. Lousy drainage on that cement slab pools the water near the rosemary. Need more b.
