Batteries R Us

So, out of the blue, I've visited this business twice in the last month. I'm getting ready for a trip, and have a tiny Pentax digital camera - a couple years old, and I needed a back up battery in case the one I have dies. They had one that worked. Another years life out of the Pentax!

And today, I was in search of a back up battery for a Sony Camcorder- bought it from Sears last year with a gift card I got after having to buy a new dryer. I had stupidly put a dog bed full of wood chips in the dryer that had been left out in the rain. And didn't know there was a rip in the fabric. Despite methodical cleaning and vacuming, those wood chips invaded the inaccessible area around the outside of the drum, and I was afraid of fire.

Back to the camcorder, I think I ended up paying around $50 bucks for it on top of the gift card.

And the Batteries R Us guys- well, they tried. They did have a giant old battery that would fit, but it weighs about two tons, and when you travel, every ounce counts. The two young men behind the counter were eager and playful, and tried hard to sell me some 24 packs of AA and AAA batteries, even after I explained that I had at least 24 of each at home (bloody Costco). They were so charming though, and so helpful they almost sold me, and I bet neither one of them has been to Vista court, or spent a nite in the jail. .

And why, you ask, am I taking the time to write about this little shop. Well, I just took a look at the Vista blog, and if you didn't know better, you'd never know that anything positive is going on in the city, and there's lots of things I love about Vista. This is just my latest discovery, that I felt inclined to share. And there's an in-and-out burger on your way back to the freeway. Double header!
