Have you ever thought how truly amazing elephants are? I have been head-over-heals for all things elephant for as far back as I can remember. I know they're big and appear clumsy and slow, but in reality they're intelligent, balanced and sensitive.
I was browsing the discovery channel one evening and saw a show about elephants. The family unit was making its typical yearly trek from water hole to water hole and they came across a pile of elephant bones. The entire group stopped and investigated the remains. The elephants used their trunks to feel the bones and through sense, smell and touch they seemed to almost mourn this friend who had passed on. It was an incredible site! The circle they had formed around the bones soon dissipated and they went on their way; steady on their chosen path.
Amazing animals! They never stop surprising me with their sensitivity and intelligence. I think the thing most appealing about them is their grand movement. They know where they're headed and they always remember how to get there. They move at their own pace and they use their community well.
Moving at one's own pace is important. Daily, I think we rush to get where we think we should be; in our minds we always need more. There is something to knowing your path and walking it that is so refreshing and calming. In hopes of not sounding too spiritual, I think your path unfolds just seconds before you walk it and the trick is to step lightly and let the day unveil it's journey for you.
All that from an elephant show I saw on the Discovery channel...wow dana!
