A "Dance of the Planets" begins in the western sky at dusk as July closes. On the evening of Saturday, July 31, notice a close pairing between Saturn (white in color) and Mars (reddish), taking place to the upper left of brilliant Venus. On that same night Mercury is dimly visible close to the horizon to the lower right of Venus. Through the first half of August, Venus, Mars and Saturn will be performing an intricate dance, changing positions day-by-day, but remaining within a few degrees of one another.
