The End of Daylight Savings Time

Daylight Savings Time Ends this Sunday morning, November 1, at 2am. With the resumption of standard time, midday (the time when the sun reaches its maximum altitude in the south part of the sky) will again be close to 12 noon on our clocks, rather than 1pm, as before.

San Diego's Latest Sunrise this year occurs on Saturday, October 31, at 7:05am, owing to both the steady shortening of the daylight hours, but more importantly due to fact that Daylight Savings Time is in effect until the first Sunday in November. If standard time were observed year-round, then the latest possible sunrise in San Diego (6:52am PST) would take place near January 8.

November's Full Moon, on Monday, the 2nd, rises dramatically in the east at around 4:50pm, only a few minutes before the time of sunset. Barring the incursion of overnight low clouds across the coastal region, San Diegans can witness the same full moon setting over the Pacific Ocean at sunrise the following morning.
