Yeller Studio's No Tan Lines pool party takes over LWP's Community@ Joy Building

Art, music, booze, food, and pop-up shops will find harmony with pool shenanigans at this empty urban property Saturday.

"LWP's support of San Diego's art culture is something Yeller greatly respects," says Michael Tussey, via email, of San Diego-based Yeller Studio, who describe themselves as a "low-brow art collective".

So when "Greg Strangman (Founder and Managing Principal of the LWP Group, an award-winning residential and commercial real estate developer) approached Yeller to present the third in a series of art-oriented bashes hosted at LWP Group's @Community buildings... we jumped at the opportunity to collaborate."

The first of these bashes was Conspire which was presented by Set & Drift with Sezio presenting the second, Collide.

All of these bruhahas are held in the empty @Community urban properties (read: apartment complexes) before the tenants have had a chance to move in.

This third installment is a good, not-so-old-fashioned pool party - appropriately titled No Tan Lines - and will shine its light Saturday, June 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the newly renovated Community@ Joy Building (4484 Illinois Street), originally erected in the 60's.

Its layout - a two-story, U-shaped building wrapped around a ground-floor pool - is similar to that of other classic properties like the Pearl Hotel, Lafayette and, lest we forget, Melrose Place.

Ten of the twenty-four first- and second-floor units will be free for romping, functioning as "micro-galleries" and pop-up shops.

Besides the art and merch, Tussey says to expect "mellow tunes, food and drink, and, most importantly, good vibes."

The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition is even getting in on the act by offering up a bike vallet.

Entry is free, while food and drinks will be priced in the $5 range.
