Local photojournalist Sam Hodgson leads a hands-on workshop inspired by the current photojournalism exhibition, Pictures of the Year International. In this four-hour course, participants will discuss the elements of a storytelling portrait, how to approach subjects, how to deal with natural light under difficult conditions, and how to make a subject comfortable in front of the camera through both gallery and classroom instruction. DOWNHILL SLALOM SKATEBOARD RACING
The 2013 U.S. National Championship features top racers from around the world competing in three slalom skateboard racing events: head-to-head hybrid and a highly technical tight slalom on Saturday, and finishing with the 40 mph giant slalom event on Sunday. Racers will compete in Pro, Am/Open, Masters, and Junior divisions each day. Current and former champions are expected to attend.
