“Whatever it may be, your shoes say a lot about you,” states eloS Shoes owner Lisa Greshko.
She’ll be celebrating an entire year of dialogue at her unique footwear store tonight with a big anniversary party.
Having lived in the area since 1991, Greshko says, via email, that she "expected the support of the local community" when opening her shop, but was "pleasantly surprised with the amount of heartwarming support" given to her and it is to them, along with her friends and family, that she attributes her first year of success.
From the start, Greshko has opened the store's walls to exhibit various local artists, recently commissioning one of those artists to create a mural inside the store on the chalkboard wall.
Greshko wanted "something organic to replace" the previous piece (a giant octopus) that had gotten damaged over time, "like a tree or a stag".
"Jimmy Ovadia came up with the idea to do a Stag wearing boots," Greshko said, and the rest is written on the walls.
It is no surprise, then, that the 1-year anniversary shindig will also serve as an opening reception for another local artist, photographer Rebecca Joelson.
Greshko said that Joelson's exhibit, America the Beautiful, a series of photos taken along Route 66, "had the perfect feeling for my shop" and thought the anniversary party would be the perfect setting to showcase them.
Drinks and snacks and fun are all promised.
It all goes down inside eloS Shoes (3404 Adams Avenue) from 6 p.m.-9 p.m..
