Take a mini-nature tour of the Buena Vista Creek Ecological Reserve, with a stop at the Historic Marron-Hayes Adobe

Enjoy a morning walk tomorrow, February 23, starting at 10 a.m., in the Buena Vista Creek Valley and a visit at the Marron-Hayes adobe. Currently, true “open space”, the valley is currently slated to become part of a housing development.

Preserve Calavera’s Diane Nygaard is guiding this tour through the valley with stories and information about the area and wildlife. It’s an easy walk that can be enjoyed by all. After the tour, guests will be invited up to the historic Marron-Hayes adobe and treated to a trip back in time as Shelley Hayes Caron, a Marron descendant, tells the history of the area, the family, and the adobe, which was built circa 1839.

Two more tours will be offered as the City of Carlsbad determines the final fate of the area. Tomorrow, Saturday, February 23 and Saturday, March 16, both at 10 a.m.
