Calling all surf enthusiasts: Surf’s up, but leave your board at home!

The “perfect wave” may not be at MiraCosta College, but come enjoy a California tradition on the big screen, when “Endless Summer” (1966) plays under the stars at the Oceanside campus. More than an outdoor screening, this event, which begins at 5:30p.m. on Friday, September 21st, will feature a panel discussion about surfing and a display of historic surf related items from the California Surf Museum. “Surf” snacks will be available for purchase from Epic Eatz, while Tower 7 jams out surf tunes.

In addition to sharing camaraderie with fellow surfers and locals who appreciate the sport and lifestyle, surf legends, historians, and writers will be in attendance: Scott Bass, Steve Barilotti, Chris Ahrens, Paul Strauch, and the original Gidget: Kathy Kohner.

The MiraCosta College surf team will be honored for their second consecutive year as national collegiate surf champions. Even if you’re not one of the guys and gals who hang out on the coast on a daily basis, surveying the waves, surfing is deeply rooted in our culture and our perfect weather makes this outdoor event one not to miss!

The event goes from 5:30 to 9:00, with the movie starting at 7:30p.m. on the campus’ central lawn. Free parking will be available in Lots 1-B and 3-B. And just in case your towel has recently been swept away with the tide, the first one hundred people get a free beach towel.
