On Sunday, October 28, from 4-6 p.m., San Diego Writers, Ink will be hosting a book club on Haruki Murakami's famous The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles. The "easy-going" book club is open to the public and will be led by Jan Voogd.

I asked Gina Cameron, one of the hosts and regular participants at the book club what the book club is like. "Whomever presents the book brings snacks for us to enjoy after the 'formal' part of the discussion is over, although we're not formal at all! In fact 'leading' a discussion is easy, because we are a talkative, lively bunch, and just a question or two gets us going for an hour or more!"
She added that most of the participants "take writing classes and workshops, so we tend to focus on the literary merits of the book, plot and character development, the psychology of the characters and other 'writerly' arts."
Afterward, participants will also get to discuss what they'd like to read at the next and last book club of the year on December 9. The book club will be held in the artistic loft space, Ink Spot (710 13th St) where participants can also view artwork and craft books. The cost for book club is $5.
