The Museum of Photographic Arts (1649 El Prado) is currently exhibiting over 40 photographs by Dutch artist Ruud van Empel. The digitally enhanced photographs reveal children in moonlight, lush jungles, in rivers with water lilies and dragonflies; in sibling pairs; in composite groups. The images and children's eyes are striking, and worth a visit to view.

Part of the exhibit is autobiographical work that includes a self-portrait recreated through old photographs and digital artistry, a white statue of himself as a boy, and photographs from a series titled Souvenire. This last series of photographs is especially nostalgic and became my favorite photographs. The artist culled items from old family photographs and created a collage of childhood items.
