Non-profit organization San Diego Writers, Ink hosts all day write-a-thon Blazing Laptops on Sunday, June 10. The fundraiser takes place at Lestat’s Coffee House (3343 Adams Avenue) and is open to the public.
Writers begin writing as early as 9 a.m. at Lestat's where each participant is greeted with a complimentary coffee and breakfast pastry. Throughout the day, professional writers provide optional writing exercises to inspire and help participants hone the craft. Those working on specific projects can sequester themselves in a quiet, reserved section.

Kelli Wescott, executive director of SDWI, shared, "It’s a time to get together to write, raise money for a good cause, enjoy time with other writers... We spend NINE HOURS writing together. There are snacks, prizes and fun prompts on the hour."

All proceeds go toward San Diego Writers, Ink’s programs and events, which include writing classes and workshops, one-on-one critiques with writers, and book discussions. "Our goal is $15,000 and, as a small organization, every dollar means so much to us," Wescott said.
Blazing Laptops runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10. Registration and a minimum sponsorship of $100 in pledges are required.
