Ed's Waterfront Run

Looking for some friends to run, swim, or cycle with? Have you checked out meetup.com?

It's a great site for people new to San Diego, new to fitness, or both.

San Diego Running is probably the most prolific fitness group on the site with 3,322 members. The group has a number of organizers who host runs everyday of the week in numerous San Diego locations.

The most popular run is Ed's Waterfront Run. It goes on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm and meets up in front of the County Building on Harbor Drive. There are three distances for runners to choose from. Beginners can go for 2.7 miles, most go for the 5.1 miles, while a few do 6.3 miles.

The 5.1 mile course heads south from the County Building, through Seaport Village, around the Embarcadero makes a button hook at the east end of the convention center and then back.

Waiting for you at the finish is an abdominal workout led by Ed himself. Once your abs are on fire, you can head over with the group to The Waterfront Bar and Grill for $1.50 fish tacos and an Igloo full of the coldest most refreshing water in town.

The group is friendly and inviting and Ed is a superstar run leader. If your Tuesday evenings are free, check it out.
