Operation Game On: Injured Troops Benefit Today, Feb. 25 @Flying Elephant

On Saturday, February 25, the Flying Elephant Pub in Carlsbad will host a fundraiser event for Operation Game On, a nonprofit that provides golf lessons, apparel and equipment to injured combat troops and their families for rehabilitation and to improve family morale.

The event will feature live music from Missiles of October, drink specials and complimentary appetizers, as well as raffle prizes for guests throughout the day.

The fundraiser provides an opportunity to give back and help injured troops in their rehabilitation process. In addition to hosting the fundraiser, Flying Elephant will donate a percentage of its sales for the day to Operation Game On, as well as 50 percent of the proceeds from the event’s cover charge.

“We are committed to finding ways to give back to the community,” said Dave Anson, owner of Flying Elephant Pub & Grill. “It is an honor to partner with Operation Game On to raise awareness and funds for our brave military members that have been injured in combat. This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together, support a wonderful cause and have a great time!”

Operation Game On gives injured military members suffering from both physical and mental disabilities a special, custom intro-to-golf package, in an effort to help them regain an active lifestyle through the sport. The organization works with the Balboa Warrior Athletic Program (BWAP) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego which advises patients to sign up for the organization’s eight week program, and is supported by major corporations, media, and PGA players to assist in its mission of providing golf as a form of rehabilitation.

Since re-launching the Flying Elephant Pub & Grill last year, new owners Dave and Molly Anson have been committed to giving back to the community. From school fundraisers and food drives, to silent auctions and raffles, the Carlsbad pub hosts events and private parties for nonprofits year round, and has assisted in contributing thousands of dollars to local San Diego organizations.

The club features two private rooms for holiday parties, corporate events and fundraisers, as well as two stages, video screens and a state-of-the-art sound system. The Grill menu offers an all-American cuisine, including burgers, pizzas, loaded tater tots, elephant bites, vegan chili, and chicken and waffles, as well as a wide drink selection, including its signature Bacon Bloody Mary.
