For the past year-and-a-half or so, Enrique Limón, author of CityBeat’s deviant The Enrique Experience column, has been extending his ken of quirky pop culture to include south-of-the-border dispatches via his oft hilarious blog, El Zonkey Show.
Rooted in Limón's upbringing on both sides of the fence, El Zonkey Show highlights Tijuana art, music, fashion, entertainment, food, news, and trans-border copyright knockoffs, like these black market Burt Reynolds figurines.

Now, Enrique is celebrating America’s favorite piece of misappropriated Mexican culture with a Cinco de Mayo party at Quality Social.
“Most Americans don't know the meaning of Cinco de Mayo,” says Limón, “and with $5 tequila shots all day and all night--along with a life-size plastic burro I recently secured at the Spring Valley swap meet--it is my firm intention to confuse them even more.”
Add to the mezcla $3 Tecate/Modelo tallboys (all day), $10 bottomless brunch mimosas (11-3), $2 carne asada/fish tacos & $3 chicken quesadillas (3-11), and DJ sets by Hevrock, the Office Twins, and Saul Q and you've got a voluptuous Mexican ass of a party with ample hand-drawn stripes for good measure.
Says Limón, “Revelry, tomfoolery and Mexi-shenanigans are to be expected.”
