San Diego Veteran Writers Take The Stage With Tim O’Brien

(From a press release dated 4/23/2012)

As part of Grossmont Community College’s 16th Annual Literary Arts Festival, Tim O’Brien will be reading and signing books on Thursday, May 03, 2:00 - 3:15 p.m., Griffin Gate (Building 60.)

O’Brien is best known for his novel, The Things They Carried, a National Book Award Winner and Pulitzer Prize Finalist, considered one of the most—if not the most—powerful books about the Vietnam War and war in general.

Local literary arts non-profit So Say We All will present “How To Tell A True War Story,” a showcase of San Diego veteran writers alongside O’Brien as part of the Literary Festival. 8 voices were challenged with writing about the unseen and unpredictable side of war, the stuff that didn’t make it into the movies, and what they have to say may surprise.

Featuring: Jim Ruland, Ronald Pickett, Allen Clark, Brian Simpson, Rolf Yngve, Rebecca Moos, Alexa Steffen, Justin Hudnall,

“How To Tell A True War Story” will have two showings:

1) Wednesday, May 02, 7:00 p.m. at Grossmont College, Room 220 (Building 26.)

2) Sunday, May 6th, 2012, 7:00pm
