The twice annual Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride takes off at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday). The 50-mile coastal ride began in 1979 and is rated "Moderately Difficult" by the Bike Ride Directors Association of America, though the website calls it "the original party on wheels."
40 miles of the stretch are closed to traffic and 10 miles are traffic controlled. The 800-foot-tall El Tigre gives a 2 mile climb at a 7.5% grade near the end of the ride. The trek ends with a Finish Line Fiesta in Ensenada.
Online registration is $35 and a round-trip bus from San Diego is available for $89.
