Tonight’s free Greenroom writers workshop focuses on the theme “Alternate Endings: narratives we create when we don't like the endings life gives us, stories about the paths we wish we'd taken, and the greener grasses we can only imagine. We'll also be kicking around the idea of adapting folktales to fit our modern lives.”
The workshop, hosted by David Tran, will be held in the Imperial House Lounge (Bankers Hill) at 7:30 p.m.
Greenroom was founded by So Say We All multi-media performance producers, who will be putting on the monthly VAMP story-tellers night at the Whistle Stop (South Park) tomorrow, June 30.
Justin Hundall of So Say We All writes:
"VAMP debuted at The Whistle Stop in August of 2010 to showcase the best of San Diego's writers, presenting original work every month on a different theme. The show is designed to allow poets, writers, monologists and lit-nerds a forum to perform like rockstars. VAMP provides artists with multimedia, music and visual tools to enhance their writing, transforming a solitary art form into a multi-sensory live stage show in front of a ferociously loyal audience."
Tomorrow’s showcase works on the theme “Act Your Age: sometimes kids are forced into incredibly responsible, adult situations. Sometimes adults discard all responsibility and behave with less maturity than a child. We’re telling tales of the anti-age appropriate variety...”
The free performance starts at 8:30 and features anachronisms from Kelli Magargal, Sunny Katz, Laura Baer, Justin Hudnall, Dave Maass, Ryan Shores, and musical guest Geezer.
