I Left My Heart at Brohemian Grove

My roommate Eli’s birthday falls on the same day as the Cremation of Care ritual at the annual U.S. elite goof fest in Bohemian Grove, where politicians, bankers, and reptilian overlords alike spend two weeks pissing on old growth redwood trees and sacrificing pork skin baby replicas to ancient Semitic deities.

In celebration, we spent Saturday (the day after Eli's birthday) at Brohemian Grove – an urban alternative for just us regular bros. We kicked off the afternoon in a University Heights alley with Shriner car races. Observe Yours Truly shredding like whoa (I cheated).

Guests were advised to sacrifice a splash of every beverage to Broloch, the tribally-tattooed owl god in stunna shades affixed to the front of a bucket.

Bobbi Koller, whose yarn art is on display downtown this month at Hostelling International San Diego, converted the hallway into a forest with yarn, push pins, and streamers.

and DUDES, who brought their new “DUDES foods” food cart to serve hot dogs and vegan Dr. Pepper chili.

“I went to L.A. to see Lil Wayne and came back with a food cart,” guitarist E.J. Binns explained.
