The Ocean Beach Fishing Pier was built in 1966, and extends nearly 2,000 feet. The pier is open 24 hours a day, and almost always seems to host at least a few fishermen, as well as people just looking to enjoy a stroll over the Pacific.
What kinds of fish can you catch at the pier? Pierfishing.com says "the most common species are kelp bass, sand bass, several variety of perch, bonito, mackerel, scorpionfish, halibut and, quite often, California lobster."

Tomas managed to catch something on camera - and as you'll see, pierfishing.com was right on regarding the critter on the end of his line.
