Decendants of O.G in O.T.

My uncle Leopoldo Wilkes was buried in the Old Town Cemetary. In fact, his marker is one of those embedded in the sidewalk or perhaps the street. Not sure which, though my Aunt says he was buried up near the front of the cemetary. Fact is, there are still quite a few decendants of Old Town San Diego in San Diego. I have got a stack of family in San Diego. I take great pride in knowing about my family history, and hopefully future members of my family will continue to follow up on it. Last month Old Town had its Heritage Day Celebration, and I met tons of unknown relatives. Guess, the unknown part of that is redundant. Yep, this is where San Diego began, and the history part is pretty interesting. Some of you folks should take a walking tour of the old adobe buildings, the old school house, the Mormon Museum, Racine and Laramie-the pipe and tobacco store, Whaley House, Adobe Chapel, and don't miss the old Victorian Homes that have been saved. There is history in each of those places, and they show a connection to one another. It is how San Diego started, and in fact, it is how many of us started also. I am thoroughly enjoying these writing ventures, but it is time to take a break. I have a few more thoughts about what more I would like to write; just need some time to gather them together. I'll be back....
