La Mesa Police Chief Ed Aceves is set to announce this morning (September 5) that the reward offered for information leading to the suspects responsible for a freeway shooting of 22 year-old Xusha Brown, Jr has been nearly doubled.
Four months ago, an unknown gunman pulled up alongside a car traveling along Interstate 8 in which Brown was a passenger and opened fire, striking both Brown and the driver, causing life-ending head injuries to Brown. Since there were numerous other vehicles in the area at the time of the assault, authorities believe there must have been several witnesses to the crime, and are asking them to come forward.
Police have announced that the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, a local East County tribe of whom Brown was a member, has increased its reward offer for information leading to the killer from $50,000 to $90,000.
The La Mesa Police contact for any tips is listed as Lieutenant Matt Nicholass, (619) 667-7512.
