Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man suspected of a “hot prowl” burglary last week in Cardiff by the Sea, in which a suspect enters a potentially occupied residence with criminal intent.
On April 29 at around 3:00 in the morning, a woman occupying an apartment on the 2200 block of Carol View Road in Cardiff was awakened by footsteps to find an unknown man standing beside her bed. Upon waking the resident, the suspect fled from the property.
Over the weekend authorities released a sketch of the suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-thirties, standing between 5’7” and 5’9” and weighing about 160 pounds. Detective Shawn Silva of the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station is handling the investigation and can be reached with information at (760) 966-3500.
