The local Republican party is looking to groom potential political candidates for office, announcing yesterday (June 24) the upcoming launch in July of a six-month candidate training program, the “Project for California’s Future.”
After ponying up $350, aspiring conservative politicians are eligible to attend five full-day seminars, six webinars hosted by campaign pros nationwide, and three additional evening programs.
Topics of study include opposition research, handling interviews and the media, finance planning, voter outreach in person and by phone and mail, “winning in non-traditional constituencies,” and fundraising through mailers, event hosting, and direct solicitation, among others.
“California is a tough political environment for Republicans, and this program . . . is designed to give our side every advantage,” says local party chair Tony Krvaric via a release announcing the program. “If you are running for office in 2014 you owe it to yourself, your family and your supporters to get trained and maximize your opportunity for success.
