Fishing for campaign funds a finished business on Hunter's political party boat

Gary Hart's "Monkey Business" has nothing on Duncan Hunter's "Finished Business" upcoming fundraising cruise backed by boat makers lobby

Democratic Senator Gary Hart had his fling with Donna Rice in Bimini on a yacht called Monkey Business back in 1987.

Next month congressman Duncan Hunter is planning on doing another kind of politicking on a yacht called Finished Business, though campaign fundraising business, not the other kind, is on the Republican's official agenda.

On July 16, Hunter is set to take to the waters of the Potomac for a ninety-minute cash raising afternoon jaunt, according to an invite to Capitol Hill lobbyists posted online by PoliticalPartyTime.Org.

For a mere $2500 contribution to Hunter's re-election fund, political action committees can achieve the vaunted rank of co-captain of the boat. PAC first mates qualify with $1000. Single swabbies can tag along for $250.

According to a photo of the boat on the invite, the vessel can hold up to 55 people.

Title sponsor of the cruise, appropriately enough, is the National Marine Manufacturers Association's Boat PAC.

Hunter happens to be chairman of the House Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation subcommittee, a key lobbying target of the marine industry.

As reported here last fall, Hunter has paid his wife Margaret for campaign services from his political stash.
