The San Diego Foundation, which manages charitable funds for a host of other organizations, has announced that about 800 students will receive help from the 160-plus scholarship funds administrated by the Foundation for the 2013-2014 school year.
Over $2.1 million will be awarded to high school students entering college, current undergraduate and graduate students, and adults re-entering education. Recipients were selected from a pool of 3,000 applicants, who had made a total of 15,000 scholarship requests.
“We are committed to ensuring a quality education is within reach of every San Diegan and we are grateful for the generous donors and volunteers who share that conviction to make it happen,” said Foundation President and CEO Bob Kelly in a release.
Over the last 16 years, Kelly says, the Foundation has distributed over $22 million in scholarship dollars.
