Suspects arrested in string of East County 7-Eleven robberies

El Cajon Police have arrested two suspects tied to a spree of robberies, all occurring at East County 7-Eleven convenience stores and three within a one hour period.

On Monday, February 18, a suspect wearing a “distinct red skull type mask” and wielding a black semiautomatic handgun robbed the 7-Eleven store at 335 Jamacha Road in the city of El Cajon at around 2:20 a.m. Thirty-five minutes later, the same individual committed another armed robbery, this time at a 7-Eleven on the 700 block of Bradley, in a neighborhood still considered El Cajon but outside city limits. A third robbery was committed by a suspect matching the same description at 3:12 a.m., again at a 7-Eleven but this time on the 10200 block of Lake Jennings Park Road in Lakeside.

By Tuesday, police working in conjunction with Sheriff’s deputies in Santee had developed a lead and visited a residence in Lakeside. The suspect, 18 year-old Forrest Fermil, as well as alleged accomplice Kailee Ray, also 18, who is believed to have been his getaway driver, were both taken into custody without incident.

The two are also linked to a fourth robbery, also occurring at a 7-Eleven on the 1400 block of Jamacha Road in unincorporated El Cajon, that took place two days earlier.
