CNN and the Union-Tribune reported today (Aug. 21) that an 18th female, Dianne York, has accused Mayor Filner of harassment-related activity -- this time, putting his hands on her buttocks. CNN ran a photo of Filner with his arms around her, but his hand is on her waist, not the buttocks. And she is smiling.
CNN says that she "is the owner of a local spa and was named Woman of the Year in a local magazine."
But let's look into that assertion. According to a lawsuit on file in Superior Court, she owned La Jolla Spa on Fay Avenue in La Jolla. She bought the building at 7630 Fay and opened the business in 2002 with her then-husband (her second), Dr. Mitchel Goldman, a plastic surgeon.
In 2009 they were divorced. La Jolla Spa became her separate property. She charged that he removed medical equipment. The company, Fay Avenue Properties, went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2011. The San Diego County Sheriff evicted York and all of her companies from the building in October of last year.
In July of last year, she filed for Chapter 7 (liquidation) personal bankruptcy. She made the filing in Los Angeles bankruptcy court. However, the bankruptcy never went through and was dismissed.
On a "Truth versus Lies" site, she claimed she married Goldman without a prenuptial agreement. "This resulted in my having to pay for all his family expenses, including child support, spousal support, legal fees." She claims she had been worth millions as a result of a successful modeling career, but Goldman drained her.
However, the other side is also told on Truth versus Lies. It claims her L.A. filing for bankruptcy was the second in 13 years. It also says she failed to disclose all of her liabilities, judgments,, liens, back taxes and more. "She should list several million dollars in liabilities, yet she only disclosed $14,000," says her opponent. (There is a picture of Goldman on the site.)
