Sheriff’s deputies arrested 32-year-old Michael Green on a host of charges Monday (August 12) after he led police on a brief high-speed chase through the Spring Valley community of Casa De Oro.
Members of the Sheriff’s Analysis Driven Law Enforcement team had located a vehicle near Campo Road that had been stolen two nights earlier from Solana Beach and were conducting surveillance when Green got into the car and drove away.
Deputies attempted to pull him over, but Green instead led them on a one mile chase approximately one minute in duration. Attempting to navigate a curvy road at high speed, Green eventually lost control of the vehicle, flying off the road, across a parking lot, and into a parked delivery truck before jumping out to escape on foot.
The Sheriff’s K-9 unit found the suspect a short while later, hiding in a nearby tree. Green was found to be in possession of other stolen property from the Solana Beach residence from which the car was taken.
As a result of his escapade, Green faces charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, and felony hit-and-run. He was also found to have two other outstanding misdemeanor warrants at the time of his arrest.
