When Michael Crain Grandys, 29, was arrested on Loker Avenue in Carlsbad he had a bindle of meth on him, according to Sheriff’s deputy Mike Hanks. Officers then checked the man’s car and found a baggie of meth in the center console which weighed out to 3.19 grams, according to testimony today, April 29, 2013.
The same day that Michael Crain Grandys was arrested in Carlsbad, on April 8, an agent with ATF, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, then went to search his Escondido home.
ATF agent Bryan Miller said it appeared that Grandys was living in the garage of a residence at 1272 Conway Drive. The agent said a tool chest in the garage “was being used as a dresser,” and he found drugs in the tool-chest-dresser. Agent Miller said he confiscated .301 grams of cocaine and .271 grams of meth from Grandys' living area.
A prosecutor alleges that Grandys has a prior strike conviction for robbery, this case is dated in early 2001; Michael Crain Grandys was 17 years old then, and that case may have originated in the juvenile court system.
Now 29, Grandys has three active misdemeanor cases, those charges include possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence. Grandys also has a felony conviction for stolen vehicle, out of the downtown San Diego courthouse, and he was out on probation at the time of his most recent arrest, according to records.
Judge Harry Elias ordered the defendant held on new felony charges for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine. Michael Crain Grandys is next due in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse on May 28, 2013.
