The abuser then drove off in the victim’s car, but then he turned the car around and drove back to the scene and rammed the rescuer, Vincent.
Jorge Alcantara Colin is accused of driving a silver, four-door Mitsubishi sedan into “Vincent” as he stood near the driver’s side door of his own truck, which was parked at the curb.
“The victim was pinned between the two vehicles,” according to Sheriff’s Sergeant Dan Deese. “He was outside his vehicle.”
Rosa’s Mitsubishi sedan was disabled by the force of the collision, and it was abandoned. The suspect “fled the scene on foot,” according to deputies. Although two tracking dogs and the Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter were brought in, a suspect evaded capture for two weeks. Officials offered a “$1,000 reward at that time, for information leading to an arrest.
The man pinned between the vehicles sustained “serious injuries to his leg” and was taken to newly-opened Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment.

Officials say Jorge Alcantara Colin was on parole for felony first-degree burglary benefitting a street gang, at the time of the current offense. The current list of charges includes attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, felony hit-and-run, and felony assault.
Jorge Alcantara Colin is also named Jorge Colin Alcantara in court papers. A reliable source states the defendant is a member of the Varrio San Marcos street gang.
The accused is currently held in lieu of $500,000 bail, he pleads not guilty to all charges, and his next court date is set for May 31, 2013. At that time, attorneys might confirm the trial date, which is now set for August 13, in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse.
