Brookfield Homes, developers of the 120-unit Cottage Lane condominium project in the Windingwalk master planned community in eastern Chula Vista, have agreed to pay the homeowners’ association there $2 million due to alleged construction defects.
The Naumann Law Firm, representing the association, says poorly installed windows and leaky roofs allowed water intrusion into the walls of homes in the development. The roof defects were found by an expert to be so severe that the entire complex, built between 2004 and 2006, will have to be re-roofed.
Brookfield is still marketing new homes in the Windingwalk development, including the 60-home Haven single family project.
