A man who killed his brother-in-law in central Mexico in April of 2011 was apprehended in San Diego over the weekend. José Armando Martínez Rosas, the 33 year old suspect known as “El Mono” (the monkey), was arrested after illegally crossing into the United States.
Martínez Rosas is wanted for the murder of his brother-in-law, as well as the attempted murder of two other family members. The incident occurred in the state of Queretaro, which lies northwest of Mexico City.
The suspect was identified as a wanted criminal after a routine check by Border Patrol agents. He has already been turned over to state authorities in Baja California and is expected to be sent back to Queretaro to face charges.
