Oceanside attorney Dan Chandler and telemarketer Shelveen Singh were arraigned today (Oct. 2) in federal court on charges of defrauding thousands of homeowners in an $11 million loan modification scam. Chandler's Oceanside office, 1st American Law Center, was home base. These defendants (and two others previously arraigned) used "high-pressure sales tactics and outright lies," says the U.S. Attorney's office, to convince people their mortgages could be modified by the firm's experts. Nine other participants in the scheme have already pleaded guilty.
