Facebook Abuzz about Valitar Drama

I learned from a direct message on Facebook that Mark and Tatyana Remley, the organizers of Valitar, have allegedly "pulled up stakes in the middle of the night and ran away with the money," leaving both performers and horses stranded at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The web site has been taken down, and CBS8 did a short report about the incident.

The stranded performers plan a fundraising show to help everyone and their animals return home. Christine Sultan Kumisbayev, one of the performers, made this announcement: "The performers of Valitar will be having a fundraising SHOW at the Del Mar fairgrounds on Dec 7-8 (Fri-Sat). The proceeds raised will go to help get the performers back to there destinations ( human and equine ). You can help by spreading the word and coming out to see the show. The show will be held in the Equestrian arena. Thank you."

The Valitar Facebook page was also removed, but performers quickly posted a new page where people could comment, discuss, and accept offered help from locals in Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar. The page went up on Thursday (three days ago) and already has 254 likes.

In one comment, a woman who asked for her name to be kept private writes: "Apparently the Remleys fired the nanny today and have cleaned out their house with a plan to flee the country. The police, CPS, Mayor, District attorney, Amex, and private jet companies have been called."

In another, Rocco Uculu writes, "CBS Channel 8 ran the TV commercial again on Saturday evening, right after the story about how the show had been cancelled. Too bad they can't get it turned off and refund the money to the people helping out the stranded performers and animals."
