Chula Vista Murder Suspects Arrested in Tijuana

Two suspects were arrested in Tijuana on Monday, March 26th, in connection with a murder in Chula Vista earlier this month. Both suspects are believed to be United States citizens from Chula Vista, CA.

19 year old Karim Joshua Alvarez and 18 year old David Chavoya, the suspects, were wanted in connection with a March 14th murder in San Diego County. It is believed that Chavoya shot the victim, 20 year old Jimmy Rodriguez, seven times outside a liquor store.

The suspects are believed to be members of the South Bay West Side Locos gang. After fleeing to Tijuana, it is apparent they were looking to get by on short term work in the Zona Rio (downtown district), where they were arrested.

Local reports state that the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals also participated in the arrests. The suspects were extradited from Tijuana to the San Diego County Jail within 24 hours.

Another Chula Vista man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a murder that occurred in Tijuana. Omar Ulloa Munoz, the suspect, was arrested in San Ysidro by the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals.
