Stock of Lee Enterprises, owner of the North County Times, has zoomed the last two days, probably because of rumors that Omaha billionaire/wizard Warren Buffett may be interested in it. Buffett likes small-town papers and has bought some recently. Lee once concentrated almost entirely on small papers, and did well. Then it took on a pile of debt to buy the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the megrims hit hard. After the company emerged from bankruptcy recently, Buffett took a 3.2% interest in it. On Friday, Lee stock jumped to $1.43 from $1.31 the previous day. Today (June 25), it is up to $1.61.
