19 year-old Andre Lavere Ford was taken into custody by San Diego Sheriff’s deputies yesterday after a man called to report witnessing the burglary of a neighbor’s home in Spring Valley.
Ford was observed with three other individuals exiting the victim’s home carrying a big-screen television, which they loaded into a green Toyota SUV. A short time later, deputies located the SUV in the parking lot of a nearby complex with Ford at the wheel.
When attempting to contact Ford, a deputy noticed a television in the back of the vehicle and arrested Ford. Upon running the SUV’s plates, it was determined that the truck had been reported stolen from La Mesa the day before, from a home that was also burglarized.
In a curbside lineup, the person reporting the burglary positively identified Ford. By this time the victim had arrived and identified her television as well as a camera that had been stolen from the house in the back of the SUV.
Deputies then returned to search Ford’s apartment, where they recovered other suspected stolen property. An investigation is ongoing, as authorities attempt to identify and locate the other three suspects.
