Three Killed in Tijuana Violence Saturday

Three murders were reported across Tijuana on Saturday, July 28th. Two of the murders allegedly occurred when two young men rescued their wives from kidnappers.

19 year old Cristina Alejandra Olivares Sánchez and a 16 year old only identified as Sofia N., were allegedly abducted by kidnappers and taken to a home in la colonia Flores Magón. 22 year old Julio César González Alvarado, 21 year old Juan Alfredo Díaz García, and 31 year old Miguel Armado Corrales Urrea claim they came to the rescue of the women while carrying high powered weapons. The first two men were apparently the husbands of the abducted, according to the State Attorney General’s Office.

The group of men found the kidnappers and their wives around 8:30pm Saturday on el Cañón de la Carreta street. They then opened fire using M-16 rifles and a .380 caliber handgun, killing the alleged kidnappers.

A neighbor reported gunfire to the police, who quickly found everyone involved and brought them into the police station. The State Attorney General’s Office is undergoing an investigation to confirm the chain of events before filing charges. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victims.

Another murder occurred in the colonia Lomas de Agua Caliente on Saturday. A body with fatal shots to the head was found in an abandoned business around noon. The victim has not yet been identified.
