Entrepreneurial Eduardo and the Deputies

Deputies in San Marcos are getting flack for squashing entrepreneurial spirit when they arrested a man they said was collecting money from under-aged persons to enter a warehouse supplied with alcohol and “beer pong” tables.

Sergeant Matt Blumenthal stated in a July 1 news release that about 3:33 a.m. the same day, a Sunday morning, deputies halted a “party” hosted by Eduardo Hidalgo. Officers alleged the 25-year-old man “deceitfully” used the building of his employer and “charged an entrance fee at the door for the consumption of alcohol by the minors.” Deputies found three beer kegs and “liquor containers” in the building owned by Hirsch Piping Supply on Linda Vista Drive in San Marcos.

Deputies also found $886 in cash, “believed to be the proceeds of the party.”

Court records suggest that Eduardo Hidalgo is suffering from negative cash flow after multiple ventures with the law and sometimes alcohol.

In 2006, 20-year-old Hidalgo was fined $1,990 for driving with suspended license. Charges of driving with blood alcohol level of .05% by a minor and possession of altered or fraudulent license were dropped in a plea deal.

In 2008, Hidalgo paid $3,075 after he pleaded guilty to DUI. Another charge of driving with suspended license was dropped in that deal. Two months later, he was again caught driving with suspended license, that cost another $1,286.

In January 2009, Hidalgo pleaded guilty to driving with suspended license again, that was $2,052.

The current charge against Eduardo Hidalgo, 25, is a misdemeanor municipal code violation. He might be looking for good ideas when he is next in court, August 16, in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse.
