San Diego police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Golden Bear gas station on the 1500 block of Morena Boulevard.
On January 6, the suspect, described as “a white or Hispanic male, 17 to mid 20s, 5’6 to 5’8, weighing 140-160 pounds,” arrived at the gas station around 8 a.m., loitering for about 15 minutes in the convenience store and parking lot, talking on a cell phone. He was wearing a black hoodie sweater and white dust mask, and told the clerk he was waiting to be picked up by a friend. The suspect eventually departed on foot.
On January 10, the suspect returned just after 7 a.m., again wearing a hoodie and mask. Finding the door to the store locked, he ordered the clerk to open it. Recognizing the suspect from days before, she refused. She was then ordered to place money in the security “pass through” window, but this demand was also refused. Pointing an index finger at his head as if to mock use of a gun, he told the clerk he “would be back for her,” and fled on foot.
Those with information on the robbery attempt are asked to contact the Police Robbery Unit at (619) 531-2299 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
