The reelection fund of San Diego Democratic assemblywoman Toni Atkins took in a total of $292,960 in contributions during 2011, according to her end-of-year filing posted yesterday by the state Secretary of State's office.
After spending $199,841, the Atkins cause ended the year with a cash balance of $101,428.
Consultants paid included the Gemini Group, the firm run by Jennifer Tierney, who is also handling the mayoral campaign of Republican district attorney Bonnie Dumanis.
Among other expenses, the committee paid $240 for accommodations at Coalinga's Harris Ranch Inn for the candidate and staff during an agricultural tour, and $127 at a Hilton in Houston during an appearance by Atkins at November's International Gay and Lesbian leadership conference there.
Accommodations at L.A.'s Miyakola Hotel for an assembly speaker's birthday event cost $267, and Starlite Limousine of Sacramento got $232 for providing transportation to a San Francisco fundraiser.
The committee paid California Pizza Kitchen of San Diego $504 for "Food & Refreshments for Select Committee on Homelessness Mtg." in July.
And San Diego's Mosaic Wine Bar got $192 for "Holiday Staff Dinner 12/09/11 w/Candidate & 8 Staff/Interns."
Maximum $3900 primary donors included PG&E; AT&T; Cox Communications; AstraZeneca; Barona; the Pala Band of Mission Indians; Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians; Luxottica (maker of Ray-Bans); Bridgepoint Education; California Real Estate PAC; and the Farmers Insurance employees and agents PAC.
The California Cotton Ginners/Growers PAC and the California Citrus Mutual PAC picked up a $1200 tab at a fundraising dinner at Mulvaney's B&L, a pricey restaurant and watering hole near the capitol building.
The Atkins fund in turn gave $11,400 to the San Diego county Democratic party and $32,750 to state Democrats.
It also gave $1000 to Shirley Weber's Democratic assembly bid.
