San Diego sheriff’s deputies are investigating a kidnapping that took place in Escondido yesterday.
At around 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call on San Pasqual Valley Road, where an individual reported that her 27-year-old sister had just been kidnapped by an ex-boyfriend, age 37. None of the parties were identified by the sheriff’s department.
The two women were in the front yard of the residence when the suspect arrived uninvited, according to the witness. The victim and suspect began arguing, then the suspect grabbed the victim and forced her into his 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible, leaving the scene.
The vehicle was soon recovered elsewhere in Escondido, though the occupants could not be found. Eventually, investigators were able to make phone contact with both parties, though neither was initially cooperative. By 5:00 yesterday evening, they were able to convince the victim to meet at a nearby Starbucks. Deputies responded to ensure her safety shortly thereafter.
The suspect remains at large, and investigators at the San Marcos sheriff's station continue to follow the case.
